  2.  THE UNDERWATER MENACE.   Written by Geoffrey Orme.   4 episodes.
  3.                           14th January - 7th February 1967.

  5.  COMPANIONS:- Ben, Polly and Jamie.
  6.  
  7.    The TARDIS materialises on a barren rock, surrounded by the sea. Upon
  8.  leaving the ship, the crew are captured by the Atlanteans and taken down
  9.  to the undersea world of Atlantis. The Atlanteans plan to sacrifice the
  10.  travellers to the Goddess Amdo but they are released by a scientist called
  11.  Zaroff. He has a plan to lift Atlantis from the sea bed by draining the
  12.  sea into the core of the Earth. The Doctor realises that this plan will 
  13.  result in the planet splitting apart.
  14.    Ben and Jamie meanwhile, have been sent to the mines and Polly has been
  15.  ordered to undergo surgery to turn her into a fishworker, collecting food
  16.  from the sea. The party escape and persuade the fishmen to revolt. Zaroff
  17.  intends to put his plan into action within twelve hours but the Doctor 
  18.  accelerates the fission, breaking down the sea walls and drowning Zaroff.
